The design of this machine addresses the issues we've faced with other robotic mop and vacuum units, such as brushes that get tangled up in hair and the brush not being able enough to reach the flooring beneath furniture. The ability to sweep carpets and bare floors is also impressive. The vacuum/mop unit has the highest level of debris pickup and the mop is able to soak up floors that are not soiled.
The mops also have an advanced system for cleaning around the edges of furniture and walls. The robot is able to avoid the bulkier obstacles such as food bowls, toys backpacks, and shoes without any issue. It is able to get tangled or entangled with smaller, flatter objects like shoelaces, USB cable, and pens.
We used this robot to clean and mop a mix of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet and hardwood floors within an open, large floor layout. It was able to vacuum and mop the 90m2 space in 170 minutes, with FREO Mind enabled. This is about the average for Gen 4 robots.

It didn't mop, however its washable pads were a bit difficult to attach and couldn't cope with dried-on dirt.
Its app lacks advanced features, such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It works with Alexa but its voice controls don't seem to be very precise or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it returns to the charging station following the course. Other robots can follow a wall or trace the previous route, but the RX3 stumbles around until it quits.
We also experienced issues with the intelligent features of the device, such as its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a good job of keeping away from our furniture legs and shoes however, it was easily stuck by cables and socks and was unable to handle the tassels of rugs. This is the reason we decided not to include it on our Best Buy list. With a decent price and a dazzling performance, the Scout RX3 is worth considering when you're looking for an alternative to the traditional uprights.
